United struggled throughout the game, with their situation worsening just before the break when Bruno Fernandes was sent off after receiving a straight red card for a foul on James Maddison.
However, it was Joshua Zirkzee’s performance that drew the most criticism from fans. The forward missed United’s best chance of the half, failing to equalize, which led to an outpouring of frustration from supporters on social media.
One fan took to X, saying: “This might be the worst 30 minutes of football I’ve seen. Did Zirkzee win a contest to play for us?”
Another added: “Zirkzee is too slow. He ruined our counter-attacks and couldn’t finish a one-on-one. Not a natural finisher.”
