Martial announced his new club and just THREE of his former teammates wished him well.
Three Manchester United players recently reacted to Anthony Martial’s social media post announcing his new club.
Martial joined United in 2015 as a teenager for a reported fee of £36 million. However, his tenure at Old Trafford was hampered by recurring injuries, preventing him from establishing a regular starting position.
After the 2023/24 season ended, Martial departed Manchester when his contract expired, having made 317 appearances and scored 90 goals for the club across all competitions.
Reports emerged last week that Martial had signed with Greek side AEK Athens, who offered him a lucrative deal worth £2.5 million per year. On Friday, he shared a photo on social media showcasing his new club’s colors, captioned: “New Chapter. Let’s go @aekfc_official.”
In the comments section, fellow United players Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Harry Maguire left supportive messages. Additionally, Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Chelsea, along with former United players Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek, and Odion Ighalo, also chimed in.
Upon joining AEK Athens, Martial expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m very happy. AEK was a great opportunity for me, and I’m eager to give my best to win trophies and bring joy to the fans.”
Former teammate Morgan Schneiderlin also voiced his confidence in Martial’s move. He told Monobala, “I believe AEK’s playing style suits him perfectly, and I expect him to have a stellar season, scoring plenty of goals. He’ll excel in AEK’s fast-paced approach and will be a valuable addition to the squad. AEK is a strong team, and Martial has the qualities to break through tight defenses and make a significant impact.
“He may seem reserved at first, but he’s really a fun person who enjoys a good laugh.”
