Amad DIALLO has praised one united signing for his good performance yesterday and hope he plays that role in Manchester United, and fans are all saying the same thing

In Manchester United’s match against Southampton, Erik ten Hag’s transfer strategy was evident, with 80% of the starting defensive lineup, including the goalkeeper, being former Ajax players. One of them saved a penalty, another scored, and Lisandro Martinez shone as a standout performer. Despite some criticism of Ten Hag, this game highlighted the success of his transfer approach.

Ten Hag has emphasized that while many of his signings have previously worked with him, this is not a deliberate tactic. In August, he explained, “Ultimately, these decisions are made by the club, and they must also fit within our financial constraints.” Despite this, the trend of signing players from Ajax continued, including names like Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. However, it’s debatable whether Antony, another Ajax alumnus, was financially justifiable.

The £85 million acquisition of Antony has been underwhelming, with the Brazilian managing just 11 goals and 5 assists in 83 appearances. Despite being the second-most-expensive signing in Manchester United’s history, Antony has seen limited action this season. In his most recent appearance, he came on as a late substitute for Amad during the Brighton match, only to see Joao Pedro score a decisive goal. Amad, the player he replaced, has been performing significantly better.

Amad emerged as Manchester United’s key attacking threat in the Southampton game. He was pivotal in the team’s first three opportunities, and after Andre Onana saved a penalty, De Ligt scored shortly after. Amad also assisted Marcus Rashford’s goal and played a full 90 minutes for the first time in a United shirt. His strong performances suggest he may see more playing time.

Determined to make an impact this season, Amad has already matched Antony’s Premier League goal tally from the previous season and is pressuring Ten Hag to reconsider Antony’s role in the team.

Antony is expected to have opportunities to redeem himself, with potential starts in the League Cup against Barnsley. However, Alejandro Garnacho, another emerging talent, may also vie for that position. Ten Hag’s limited use of Antony thus far could indicate uncertainty about the Brazilian’s future with the squad.
