Coming live from Old Trafford, Zinedine Zidane is spotted attending Manchester United’s training session as it seems he is ready to leave retirement to take on a new job in the Premier League while Erik Ten Hag battles to keep his job at Manchester United.
Zinedine Zidane was recently seen attending a Real Betis training session, adding fuel to the ongoing rumors surrounding Erik ten Hag’s uncertain future at Manchester United.
Zidane, who has exclusively managed Real Madrid, achieved remarkable success during his time there, winning two La Liga titles and three consecutive Champions League trophies in his two stints at the club.
Since his departure from Madrid in 2021, Zidane has not taken up any managerial roles, despite persistent rumors linking him to both the Manchester United job and the possibility of succeeding Didier Deschamps as France’s national team coach.
His appearance at the Real Betis training session quickly grabbed attention on social media.
The 52-year-old Zidane was present on Wednesday, witnessing his son, Elyaz, take part in first-team training for the first time at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol.
Elyaz, an 18-year-old defender, recently moved to Real Betis after spending 11 years at Real Madrid. He joined Betis, now managed by former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, earlier this year. Zidane was in Seville under the bright sun, keeping an eye on his son’s development.
While Zidane may not be preparing for an immediate return to coaching, Manchester United could consider him as a potential replacement if Erik ten Hag’s struggles continue.
United has already suffered two defeats in their first three games this season, including a crushing 3-0 home loss to Liverpool, increasing the pressure on Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo, a Manchester United legend, appeared to take a subtle jab at Erik ten Hag after their fallout in late 2022, which led to Ronaldo’s second departure from the club.
Speaking before Portugal’s Nations League matches, the Al-Nassr forward remarked, “Until the end of my career, I’ll always believe I’m a starter. I have always respected decisions from coaches and clubs, though on a couple of occasions, I was treated unfairly (laughs).”
He added, “As long as there’s professional ethics, I’ll always respect a coach’s decisions. When those ethics are violated, there’s room for controversy, but that’s a different issue.”
Manchester United fans are eager to see how the team reacts after the international break, with high expectations for their upcoming clash against Southampton on Saturday.
