Football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development via social media, stating that Burnley and Manchester United have verbally agreed on the transfer. Romano shared, “Burnley have reached a verbal agreement to sign Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United. He is undergoing medical tests today, and the deal, which is a loan with a mandatory purchase option, is nearly complete.”
Burnley is reportedly impressed with Hannibal’s previous experience, including a loan spell in the Championship with Birmingham City. At just 20 years old, Hannibal has also earned 27 caps for the Tunisian national team, highlighting his potential.
Last season, Hannibal was on loan at Sevilla in La Liga, but the Spanish club decided against triggering the €20 million option to buy him permanently. This deal included a fixed buy-back clause and a sell-on clause, likely to be part of his new arrangement with Burnley.
Manchester United initially signed Hannibal from AS Monaco five years ago for €10 million, beating out interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.
