According to The Sun, United are willing to concede that they made a mistake by letting De Gea leave. Efforts are on to bring the 32-year-old back to Manchester, where he is now without a club. De Gea previously spent 12 years with the Red Devils, appearing in 545 games and breaking their all-time clean sheet record.
United are hoping De Gea will agree to return on a short-term basis, since Onana is scheduled to travel to the Africa Cup of Nations in January. They also signed Altay Bayindir this summer, but he is a Premier League rookie, and the Red Devils want another experienced performer to cover for, and possibly compete with, Onana.
