Jadon Sancho has rejoined Manchester United’s first team this summer, following a high-profile disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag that led to his exclusion from the squad last year.

After spending the second half of the previous season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, the winger, originally from London, appeared to have reconciled with ten Hag and participated in United’s pre-season tour in the United States. However, questions about his future have resurfaced after he was left out of the squad for United’s Premier League opener against Fulham last Friday. Although Sancho had an ear infection before the game, ten Hag’s comment about favoring “other players” hinted at potential underlying issues.

At present, Sancho faces stiff competition at Old Trafford, with Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony all ahead of him in the pecking order.

According to RMC Sport, Juventus has opened discussions to sign the United winger, with negotiations between the two clubs underway. The report suggests that United is seeking approximately €30 million (£25 million) for Sancho. There are also rumors that Chelsea and Barcelona are interested in acquiring him.

During a press conference on Thursday afternoon, ten Hag did not confirm Sancho’s inclusion in the squad for Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton. However, he did issue a stern warning to Sancho and the rest of the team about accepting his difficult decisions concerning team selection.

When asked whether Sancho would be included in this weekend’s match, ten Hag replied, “We’ll see. We have a squad, and I aim to have double coverage in every position. Once the season is fully underway after September 1, not everyone will be selected for every match, but we’ll need everyone throughout the season.

“It’s all about managing this situation. The players’ mentality is key—they may feel disappointed at times, but they need to handle it. Achieving success requires a collective effort.

“Trophies are won in May, and until then, we need every player in the squad to stay highly motivated. This isn’t just an expectation; it’s a requirement for the team.”
