VERY SAD NEWS has been announced for Ex Manchester United Star as he goes off injured 20 minutes into his debut match
With his side away at Sampdoria, Raphael Varane was making a competitive debut for Como in the Coppa Italia.
Varane’s night had hardly begun when he was sent off with an injury after only twenty minutes.
Although the World Cup champion could walk off, he seemed uncomfortable as Como’s medical personnel brought him to the bench.

Though the exact type and extent of Varane’s damage are yet unknown, clearly this is less than perfect beginning for the former Manchester United defender.

Apart from Varane’s great pay, his dubious fitness record contributed somewhat to Manchester United’s choice not to renew his contract.
He made 24 the next season and 22 Premier League matches in 2021/22. It was 22 last season once more.
Still, he posted the lowest amount of Premier League starts in 2023/24—just 16, less than half of the team’s total games.
Varane could have started a possible 113 games during his three seasons at Manchester United, missing the first of 2021/22 since he was only released at kick-off.
Of the 113 possible Premier League starts, Varane only made 58, just barely over 50%.
Although Leny Yoro, his replacement, started himself with an unlucky injury-hit, the choice to split ways with Varane was not necessarily the incorrect one.
His own early injury at Como supports United’s decision to discharge him, regardless of minor or big consequence.
