“I wounder why he no club has signed him. He is a great defender and he is a world class just like Sergio Ramos in Spain”-After Playing against Man City, Man United coach confirms that they will need another defender to avoid injury crisis during the season. Man Utd ‘make contact’ with free agent in surprise move after Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro injury setbacks.

Manchester United have reportedly reached out to a free agent after facing injury challenges with both Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro.

Recent reports confirm that summer acquisition Leny Yoro, who joined from Lille last month, has undergone surgery for a fractured metatarsal in his left foot sustained during a pre-season fixture against Arsenal. The 18-year-old center-back is expected to be sidelined for about three months.

In addition to Yoro’s injury, manager Erik ten Hag has been dealing with multiple injury concerns, including Rasmus Hojlund, who is also out due to a pre-season injury. Ahead of the Community Shield match against Manchester City on Saturday, ten Hag mentioned that up to four players might miss the game at Wembley.

“Harry Maguire missed the Liverpool match as a precaution but is still uncertain for Saturday,” ten Hag noted. “We’ll need to assess his condition to determine his availability.”

He added: “Victor Lindelof played, but he’s also a doubt, along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw. We’ll review their fitness on Friday.”

While ten Hag did not update on Shaw’s status, a Friday report suggests that United are considering strengthening their defense. Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez reports that the club has reached out to Mario Hermoso, a former Atletico Madrid defender now a free agent.

The 29-year-old Spanish center-back, who has also played as a left-back, is reportedly seeking a gross salary of €6 million (£5.1 million) and a three-year contract. Ramírez states that “negotiations are in the early stages, and the outcome remains to be seen.”

Hermoso, who appeared 174 times for Atletico Madrid during his five-year stint, was part of the squad that won La Liga in the 2020/21 season, conceding only 25 league goals, with Hermoso featuring in 31 matches.

Following the expiration of his contract with Atletico in June, Hermoso’s representatives have reportedly approached Aston Villa and West Ham, according to AreaNapoli.
