According to reports, Manchester United may be preparing to re-sign a previous player as they finalize their squad for the new campaign.

This comes amidst news that the club’s new INEOS ownership is getting creative in the transfer market. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new minority owner, has already made significant changes to the backroom staff and secured major signings, including Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro.

However, Manchester United has encountered a few challenges with other transfer targets recently, but they might now have a chance to bring back a familiar player in what’s being described as a “dream” move.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano informed GIVEMESPORT that Sofyan Amrabat could become a realistic option for United if their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte falls through. Ugarte has been on United’s radar for weeks, but PSG’s high asking price has reportedly cooled their interest.

Alternative options, like Youssouf Fofana, have been suggested as more affordable.

“Amrabat is waiting to see what Manchester United decides in the coming weeks,” Romano said. “[His] intention is to leave Fiorentina, and [he is] open to a return to Manchester United.”

While TEAMtalk has described this potential move as a “dream” for Amrabat, FourFourTwo views the Moroccan midfielder as more of a last-resort option for United. If the club had been truly committed to signing him, they likely would have activated the £20 million buyout clause at the end of the last season.

If United decides to pursue Amrabat, they would need to restart negotiations. However, their interest in players like Fofana and Sander Berge suggests they might not be planning a move for him.

Amrabat, who is valued at €22 million by Transfermarkt, is under contract until next summer.
