Manchester United have accepted Fulham £20m bid for McTominay. On the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag stated that he is “pleased” to have McTominay in his squad, but did not commit to keeping the 27-year-old Scotland international.

Manchester United’s Scott McTominay has once again attracted interest from another Premier League club, with Fulham making a second bid for the midfielder, reportedly around £20 million. This marks the second consecutive summer that McTominay’s future at Old Trafford has been in question, following West Ham’s attempt to sign him last year.

On the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with McTominay’s presence in the squad. However, he refrained from confirming the 27-year-old’s long-term future at the club. As United looks to raise funds for new signings, the uncertainty around McTominay’s position could play a role, especially with the team dealing with injuries to key players like defender Leny Yoro, who is sidelined for three months, and striker Rasmus Hojlund.

McTominay, entering a pivotal stage in his career, is eager to secure a spot as a regular starter. Last season, he made 32 Premier League appearances, 14 of which were as a substitute, but notably started in the FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City at Wembley. Recently, he featured in an attacking midfield role during United’s 3-2 pre-season win against Real Betis in San Diego.

With Bruno Fernandes yet to rejoin the squad after Euro 2024, and Mason Mount and Casemiro still with the club despite speculation about moves, McTominay’s future remains uncertain. Ten Hag praised McTominay, a product of United’s academy, for his contributions to the team.

“I’m very pleased with Scott’s performances and glad to have him in the squad,” said Ten Hag. “He has a significant impact on our play with his spirit, and his role in advanced positions is crucial.”
