While Arsenal initially appeared to be the frontrunner for his signature, recent reports suggest Manchester United now holds the upper hand in securing the 25-year-old’s services.
Manchester United is keen to bolster its midfield this summer, and Zubimendi has emerged as a potential candidate to replace the aging Casemiro, whose departure from Old Trafford has been anticipated for some time. With Casemiro’s performance declining last season, Zubimendi represents a promising and younger option that could better suit Erik ten Hag’s tactical needs. However, he is not the only midfield prospect linked to the Red Devils.
Zubimendi’s transfer links come shortly after Manchester United’s efforts to acquire Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, as reported by CaughtOffside. PSG is likely to offload midfielders this summer to facilitate the arrival of Joao Neves from Benfica, which might make Ugarte available at a reasonable price. Additionally, Scott McTominay’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with recent links to Fulham, as noted by Fabrizio Romano. However, Romano indicated that the club is not in a rush to offload the Scottish international and will only consider selling him if a substantial offer is received.
