Man Utd see ‘multiple bids rejected’ for summer signing No 3 as major update drops on Bruno Fernandes future. after having multiple proposals rejected by PSG this summer, while the role Bruno Fernandes could play in a prospective move has been revealed.

Manchester United has been briefed on two potential strategies to secure Manuel Ugarte, after facing multiple rejections from PSG this summer. Additionally, details have emerged regarding the potential role of Bruno Fernandes in any such transfer.

The Red Devils are in the midst of a squad overhaul following a disappointing season. While they salvaged their campaign by winning the FA Cup and securing a Europa League spot, their eighth-place Premier League finish—Manchester United’s worst ever—coupled with a poor Champions League performance nearly led to Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Ultimately, Ten Hag was granted a third year, with high expectations to restore the club’s fortunes. To support this, minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is backing a significant squad reshuffle. The summer transfer window has already seen major moves, including Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro joining for a combined £88.7 million.

Despite these additions, United is still pursuing further reinforcements, targeting at least one central midfielder, a right-back, and possibly another centre-back. PSG’s Manuel Ugarte is a key target in midfield. The Uruguayan is available for transfer after just one season, as PSG seeks an upgrade in that position.

United has faced setbacks with their attempts to sign Ugarte, having seen several offers rejected. Their initial bid of approximately £29.5 million (€35 million) was quickly dismissed, and subsequent proposals have also been turned down. PSG’s asking price for Ugarte remains fixed at £58 million (€69 million), which United finds excessive.

Reports suggest PSG might be willing to negotiate if United includes Fernandes in a swap deal. Fernandes has been a pivotal player for United since his arrival in January 2020, contributing 79 goals and 66 assists in 233 appearances. Despite speculation about his future, United is determined to keep their influential captain. Fernandes himself has expressed his commitment to the club, stating his strong desire to stay and succeed at Old Trafford.

The club is reportedly open to negotiations involving other players, like Jadon Sancho, but remains firm that Fernandes will not be part of any deal for Ugarte. The possibility of a swap involving Sancho is still on the table, but Fernandes’ departure is deemed unlikely without an extraordinary offer.
