Football Insider reports that United has set a £30 million price tag on the 27-year-old midfielder. Fulham’s recent offer fell short of this amount, according to talkSPORT. Despite this, Sky Sports indicates that Fulham is likely to submit a revised bid that meets United’s valuation.
Fulham, having yet to bolster their squad this summer, will probably aim to match the £30 million asking price to finalize the deal. However, convincing McTominay to leave might be challenging, as his current priority is to remain at Old Trafford and earn a new contract through his performances in the upcoming season.
McTominay’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2025, making this summer an opportune time for the club to secure a substantial fee for him. United is also targeting new central midfielders, with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte and free agent Adrien Rabiot as potential signings. L’Equipe suggests that acquiring Ugarte will require an expenditure of €70 million, while Rabiot’s high wage demands present another challenge.
To facilitate these acquisitions, United needs to offload a midfielder, with McTominay or Casemiro being the options. Given Casemiro’s substantial wages, moving McTominay might be more feasible. Despite being a significant player for Erik ten Hag last season, McTominay could be sold if Fulham meets United’s £30 million asking price.
