Chelsea’s decision to exclude defender Trevoh Chalobah from their pre-season tour of the United States has cast uncertainty over his future at Stamford Bridge. Chalobah, 25, who has been with Chelsea since the age of eight, played 17 matches last season and impressed under former manager Mauricio Pochettino after recovering from a hamstring injury.
Despite having a contract until 2028, Chalobah is reportedly available for around £25m. His omission from the tour, despite initial inclusion in pre-season under new head coach Enzo Maresca, suggests Chelsea may be preparing for his departure. The club’s decision to limit the squad size for the tour highlights their intent to create a more cohesive team.
