England FLOP manager Garath Southgate is set to become Manchester city manager if Pep Guardiola leaves this summer according to top reporters
Former England player Jermaine Jenas thinks FA officials have cause to be optimistic about their possible hunt for Manchester City head Pep Guardiola.
Following four major tournament campaigns including back-to–back European Championship final losses, Gareth Southgate’s decision to resign as Three Lions manager has left the FA with a difficult choice on who will head the very gifted side.
Reportedly on the FA’s radar is City coach Guardiola, and they are even ready to wait until his contract expires 2025. The Catalan has said before that he wants to manage internationally one day, but with his 47 caps and captaining of his nation to Olympic gold at the 1992 Games, it seems doubtful that Spain will be involved.
41-year-old Jenas thinks England is among four nations in the globe that may provide a landing target for Guardiola. “Pep’s Catalan makes him the first candidate that comes to me. Jenas told Mirror Football before of last weekend’s Formula E Grand Prix, “He’s not going to manage Spain, I wouldn’t have guessed.”
“Pep will manage one day internationally. And it’s only whether it will be Brazil, Portugal, England, Germany. He is going to do it at some time.
Jenas thinks England requires a manager that enjoys front foot play. Mentioned are names like Newcastle’s Eddie Howe and free agent Graham Potter.
