New Manchester United signing Joshua Zirkzee expressed his willingness to don either the number 9 or 11 jersey following his transfer from Bologna. United confirmed the arrival of the Dutch international last week, securing him for a fee slightly above his £34 million release clause. Zirkzee joins the FA Cup holders after playing a key role in Bologna’s unexpected qualification for the Champions League.
The Red Devils have yet to finalize their squad numbers for the 2024/25 season. The number 9 shirt is vacant following Anthony Martial’s departure on a free transfer. Rasmus Hojlund, who joined last season, currently holds the number 11 shirt, and Zirkzee mentioned that it would be up to him and the Danish international to decide who gets which iconic number.
