Manchester City Star Julian Alvarez ‘asks to leave Man City’ after rejecting four-year contract with Chelsea and PSG among clubs interested in £70m striker
WHAT HAPPENS?
El Chiringuito claims Alvarez is eager to start a new challenge and turned down a new four-year deal at Manchester City. Though they must spend at least £70million (€81m/$89m) to take him away from the Etihad, Chelsea and Paris Saint- Germain are thought to be interested in the World Cup champion.
THE GREER PICTURE
Losing Alvarez would be quite detrimental for City. Under Pep Guardiola, the Argentina international has been really significant even if his name is not as famous as Haaland or Kevin De Bruyne is. Since his arrival in 2022 City has dominated the Premier League thanks in part to his influence as a substitute or in the absence of their Norwegian talisman.
Was it known?
Alvarez, 24, has already claimed the World Cup, Copa America, Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup. Last season, he made 32 goal contributions in 54 games and has had an incredibly successful career.
NEXT FOR CITY AND ALVAREZ?
Alvarez hardly has anything to do but wait for his opportunity to sign for a different team. Until 2028, he is bound by his contract; he will report for pre-season with his team-mates and fly to the US for their tour.
