Joao Cancelo: Sell
Cancelo is clearly out of Guardiola’s plans, but he can’t seem to find a team that wants and can pay him. Barcelona at the very least wants him, but whatever money they discover in the back of the sofa will most certainly go elsewhere.
It’ll be fascinating to see where Cancelo ends up. Manchester City will almost certainly be looking for a bid from Saudi Arabia.
Sergio Gomez, a Spanish left-back, is on his way out. Gomez is returning to his native country to play for Real Sociedad. That is what Fabrizio Romano stated.
Joshua Wilson-Esbrand — Keep
Wilson-Esbrand is expected to find a spot in Guardiola’s team, although a restricted one, given Gomez’s departure. If they want to loan him out, fair enough. If they want to sell him, they will avoid making enemies. Do anything you want, gentlemen.
Kalvin Phillips should sell and find a new team. Not West Ham, however.
Rodri – Keep
Selling Rodri would benefit everyone, which is why Manchester City would never sell the world’s finest midfielder this summer. Nobody would be brave enough to make an inquiry.
Maximo Perrone – Keep
Instead of passing the torch, Phillips might pass the bib to the younger Perrone. Someone needs to take that spot on the bench, friend.
Mateo Kovacic – Keep
There are better midfielders out there, but Kovacic is an excellent squad player for Manchester City.
Matheus Nunes: Keep
We’ll give young Nunes the benefit of the doubt following an underwhelming maiden season at the Etihad.
Kevin De Bruyne – Man City’s decision to sell De Bruyne, who has a one-year deal, seems illogical. A fresh agreement has never been ruled out; nonetheless, it appears that the Belgian will transfer to the United States or Saudi Arabia in the next years. This summer, the latter is apparently showing a keen interest.
James McAtee: Sell
It is very evident that McAtee will not be a regular under Guardiola. However, he might join a Premier League team in the bottom half.
Oscar Bobb – Loan
Norwegian prodigy Bobb can and has made significant contributions to City, but spending a year away from the club to hone his trade might be a game changer. He is far too talented and promising to be sitting on the bench most weeks.
Bernardo Silva – Keep
Every summer, there is speculation about Silva, generally involving Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. This year is no different.
There are reports of a release clause, and if Barcelona weren’t so broke, he would have signed with them long ago. City is unlikely to obstruct Silva’s progress if they can raise the funds. Regardless, he is an incredibly vital and excellent player for the Citizens, and his sale is strongly discouraged.
Phil Foden – Keep
The Premier League Player of the Season should not leave Manchester City. Obviously f***ing not.
Jack Grealish: Sell
Pep has signed Jeremy Doku and Savio to (probably for the latter) play the expressive position on the left that we anticipated Grealish to take after his £100 million transfer from Aston Villa in 2021. Instead, Guardiola has confined the England international, turning him into a cog in the system rather than the clever, risk-taking winger we adored at his last club.
Grealish was England’s Clamour King in past tournaments but was left off of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 team, leaving few people to understand why. His family, friends, the player, and Hellmann’s will have been the most upset.
Grealish is ready to leave City and spread his wings once more. He’s winning a lot of pots and pans and was a key component of the club’s Treble success in 2022/23, but the moment seems appropriate. And he is more than capable of joining any other Premier League starting lineup.
Jeremy Doku, the take-on king, had a poor rookie year at Manchester but is clearly a gifted young man.
Julian Alvarez – Keep
There has been a lot of speculation about World Cup winner Alvarez’s future, and Manchester City, understandably, is not interested. Alvarez, like Gabriel Jesus, who departed for Arsenal in 2022, wants to be the main man. That is difficult when Erling Haaland is your teammate.
Alvarez may want to be one of the first names on the teamsheet every week, but he still appeared 54 times in all competitions last season, including a fantastic run in the side when De Bruyne was sidelined between August and January. He took on set-piece duties and was bloody brilliant at it. The Argentine started 39 of his 54 outings, including 31 in the Premier League.
The speculation has subsided in recent weeks, and it appears like Alvarez will remain at City, which is a good conclusion for both the player and the organization.
