Manchester United supporters are thrilled now that the club’s board of directors is finally complete.

Typically, Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood would be vital to United’s goals, but their well-documented issues have led to their exits.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe seems uninterested in giving these former England internationals a second chance.

Stan Collymore feels that United has let both players down as they seek to revive their careers elsewhere.

“I believe both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood were unfortunate to be at the chaotic Manchester United in recent years,” he told CaughtOffside in his exclusive columns.

Sancho being singled out by the manager was particularly detrimental, considering his stellar form at Dortmund. Regarding Greenwood, the situation was and remains very serious.

We all saw the videos and pictures. I strongly believe in giving people a chance to learn and move forward, based on my own life mistakes, and Getafe has given Greenwood that opportunity.

“The discussions about his situation among Manchester United fans, both men and women, were very toxic. I doubt there’s a path back for him at United, making it challenging for him to return to any English club.”

Both players would have likely been key figures for the England national team at Euro 2024 if circumstances were different, and Collymore thinks the international door isn’t entirely closed – at least not for Sancho.

Playing abroad now is a great move for both, and they will likely attract numerous offers due to England’s current global prominence following their win against the Netherlands.

“There are many positive implications following that performance and result,” he said. “They should consider a future outside of the English top division, as Manchester United and English football have somewhat failed them.

“I wish them the best because they are exceptionally talented. If Sancho performs as we know he can, there’s no reason the next England manager wouldn’t consider bringing him back.

“For Greenwood, it’s more complicated. If he plays for England again, there will be significant public and media backlash.

“Despite believing in second chances, I don’t see a way back to international duty for Mason Greenwood.”
