Manchester United are already turning their attention to players’ fitness as they return from their summer break. While some players are still competing in the European Championship and Copa America, they will take their vacations once their national teams’ campaigns conclude.

As the transfer window remains open, Erik ten Hag, his coaching staff, and the club’s board are collaborating to acquire the right players and offload those who no longer fit the team’s plans.

Young defender Willy Kambwala, who showed promise at Old Trafford after breaking into the first team last season, may be on his way out. Sports journalist Christopher Michel reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Kambwala has rejected a contract extension from United and is exploring other opportunities.

Speculation suggests that Kambwala is interested in moving to Spain, with clubs in La Liga, MLS, the Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 all expressing interest. This decision likely disappoints Ten Hag, who had trusted Kambwala last season. However, United’s pursuit of Bayern Munich centre-back Matthijs de Ligt might have prompted the Congolese teenager to seek playing time elsewhere.

With Kambwala’s current contract expiring in a year, it remains uncertain whether Manchester United will improve their offer or allow him to depart.
