A few days ago, reports from Spain suggested that Barcelona is prepared to offer £68 million-rated Brazilian star, plus cash, to acquire Mainoo from Manchester United.
More recently, it’s been claimed that Manchester United is willing to trade Jadon Sancho to Barcelona in exchange for Raphinha during the summer transfer window.
Sancho was loaned to Borussia Dortmund midway through last season following a complete breakdown in his relationship with United manager Erik ten Hag. With ten Hag set to remain at Old Trafford, Sancho’s future at the club looks uncertain, despite his role in helping Dortmund reach the UEFA Champions League final.
According to Catalan outlet Nacional, Dortmund is interested in permanently signing the 24-year-old, but they cannot meet the £40 million valuation.
In light of this, Manchester United has proposed a swap deal, offering Sancho to Barcelona in exchange for Raphinha. Barcelona is looking to offload the South American winger.
Raphinha, 27, was instrumental in Barcelona’s La Liga triumph during the 2022-23 season. However, the rise of young talent Lamine Yamal on the right wing has limited Raphinha’s starting opportunities, with only 17 league starts last season.
Despite this, Raphinha still managed to contribute over 20 goals across all competitions under Xavi’s management, demonstrating his potential to strengthen Manchester United’s right-wing position.
