Neves, who has dazzled fans and pundits alike with his extraordinary talent and maturity, is set to bring a new era of excitement to the Premier League🙀🙀🙀

Manchester United have reportedly made a final take-it-or-leave-it offer for Benfica’s young star Joao Neves, as reported by the Portuguese publication Record (page 15). The Red Devils are aiming to bolster their defensive midfield this summer, and Neves is among several targets they are considering.

Last month, United’s initial bid of £51 million for Neves was turned down. According to Record, the club has now increased their offer to £59 million. However, this is their final bid, and it remains uncertain whether Benfica will agree to sell Neves.

The 19-year-old Neves has a £102 million release clause in his contract. Benfica’s president, Rui Costa, is eager to keep him for the 2024/25 season. While a summer departure hasn’t been completely ruled out, Benfica would likely need an offer of at least £85 million to consider a sale.

Neves would be a major acquisition for United, given his impressive breakout season with Benfica, where he excelled in the defensive midfield role. He boasted a 90% passing accuracy, won an average of two tackles and six duels per game, and averaged 6.4 recoveries, completing 62% of his take-ons. Despite his young age, Neves has shown significant maturity, and Costa has described him as a “born leader.”

Securing Neves would be a strong move for United, but it may require a higher fee to persuade Benfica. Given United’s limited transfer budget, making another offer might be unlikely. Instead, they may turn their attention to acquiring Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.
