Gabriel Agbonlahor has forecasted a challenging season for Manchester United, predicting they will not finish higher than seventh in the forthcoming Premier League campaign.
In his debut season, Erik ten Hag led Manchester United to a commendable third-place finish and a League Cup victory. However, his second season proved more difficult, as the team slipped to eighth in the Premier League, sparking serious doubts about his tenure at Old Trafford.
Despite these setbacks, Ten Hag managed to steer the Red Devils to an unexpected FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City. This victory played a crucial role in Manchester United’s decision to retain him and extend his contract until 2026.
With the focus now shifting to the summer transfer window, Manchester United aims to bolster their squad to compete with powerhouses like Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Potential signings include Jarrad Branthwaite, Matthijs de Ligt, and Joshua Zirkzee.

“Seventh or possibly eighth again,” he predicted. “They extended Ten Hag’s contract after considering other managerial options. From what I saw last season, their performances didn’t justify Ten Hag’s contract renewal. If other managers were available and interested, the club would have made a change this summer.”
