Manchester United has successfully completed the signing of a player priced at forty million pounds, a champions league winner. The player is now in London and will face a medical test tomorrow.

Spanish media reports reveal that Manchester United has successfully secured a deal to sign Miguel Gutierrez from Girona.

The 22-year-old defender, who has a background with Real Madrid, was part of the squad that clinched both the La Liga and Champions League titles two years ago.

Over the past two years, Gutierrez has made significant strides in his career, particularly under the mentorship of Girona’s manager, Michel.

Currently, his contract with the La Liga club runs until 2027, and he earns around £280,000 per year.

Notably, Real Madrid has the option to repurchase Gutierrez this summer for a mere 8 million euros, according to Cadena Ser.

Despite this option, The Express, citing Spanish sources, reports that Real Madrid has chosen to activate the buy-back clause only to finalize a £34 million deal to transfer Gutierrez to Manchester United.

The Premier League club is eager to bring in the left-back to replace Luke Shaw.

Last season, Gutierrez demonstrated his versatility by effectively contributing in both defensive and offensive roles.

He started 35 league matches, scored 2 goals, provided 7 assists, and played a key role in helping Girona achieve 12 clean sheets, ultimately securing a UEFA Champions League spot.

Luke Shaw, despite his long tenure at Manchester United, has struggled with injuries throughout his career.

Under Erik ten Hag’s management last season, Shaw was limited to just 12 Premier League starts due to persistent muscle issues.

Given Shaw’s injury history, Manchester United has identified the need for a reliable replacement, and Gutierrez seems to fit the bill.

However, the young Spaniard will have to give up Champions League football next season to join Manchester United.
