Coming live from Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the immediate release of Dan Ashworth from his contractual obligations at Newcastle United. The terms of this agreement will remain confidential between the clubs. This is a very good recruiting strategy from man united. Done and sealed🙀🙀🙀

Manchester United has officially announced the appointment of Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director, successfully recruiting him from Newcastle United. Following extensive negotiations, United and Newcastle have agreed on a compensation package, overcoming Newcastle’s initial demand for a substantial return on their investment. The agreement was reached last week, just before the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability deadline.

Ashworth, who had been on gardening leave since Manchester United’s approach in February, was initially unable to join United until the end of 2025 without a compensation deal. With the new agreement, he now takes on comprehensive responsibilities for Manchester United’s football operations. His role will include overseeing on-field strategies, off-field recruitment, and managing all football-related matters to ensure a cohesive long-term plan at all levels of the club. He will also lead contract negotiations.

In a joint statement, the clubs said: “Newcastle United and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the immediate release of Dan Ashworth from his contractual obligations at Newcastle United. The terms of this agreement remain confidential between the clubs. Newcastle United thanks Dan for his services and wishes him well for the future.”
