Manchester United have secured personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite and are preparing to make an official offer for the young Everton defender this summer. Branthwaite has become United’s top defensive target, particularly with Everton’s financial troubles potentially forcing them to part ways with their valuable player.

Everton values Branthwaite at approximately £70 million (€83 million), and United plans to start negotiating the transfer fee after finalizing a contract with the 21-year-old, which is expected to be around £150,000 to £160,000 per week, as reported by The Times.

United’s transfer activity has picked up following the confirmation that Erik ten Hag will remain as manager next season, according to an end-of-season review. The club has been highly impressed with Branthwaite, who, standing at 6 feet 5 inches, played a crucial role in Everton’s defense, which conceded the fourth-fewest goals last season. However, the transfer process is anticipated to be intricate and may drag on throughout the summer, according to FOOTBALLWAVE.

Besides Branthwaite, United aims to strengthen their defense with another center-back following Raphael Varane’s free transfer departure and the uncertain future of Harry Maguire. Jonny Evans is also out of contract. Both United and Liverpool have expressed interest in Lille’s Leny Yoro, although Real Madrid is currently the favorite to sign the 18-year-old.

Jean-Clair Todibo and Matthijs de Ligt are also being considered by United as right-footed center-back options, with Branthwaite viewed as the perfect candidate to compete with Lisandro Martinez for the left-center back spot.
