We didn’t bother with the loan component for our Arsenal and Manchester United counterparts because their squads aren’t as bloated with Football Manager wonderkids. Read them after this, of course.
Robert Sanchez-Sell
This may be little controversial, but he is quite mediocre at everything and makes an error in every game. Chelsea has too many goalkeepers, so moving Robert Sanchez makes sense.
Djordje Petrovic: Keep
Djordje Petrovic wowed me more than Sanchez last season. That’s all.
Marcus Bettinelli is there to make up the numbers, which we are okay with.
Lucas Bergstrom’s Loan
Bergstrom is unlikely to ever become Chelsea’s number one player. Sell him immediately or lend him to attempt to increase his worth.
Gabriel Slonina-Sell
Slonina joined Chelsea from MLS team Chicago Fire in 2022 and was loaned to Belgian side Eupen last August. This was a completely worthless signing, given their other ex-MLS goalie, Petrovic, is substantially superior.
Kepa Arrizabalaga-Sell
That’s correct, a sixth goalie. Kepa remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history, but he has never shown his worth on the game. It’s time to say goodbye forever following his loan at Real Madrid in 2023/24.
Reece James: Keep
Reece James may be prone to injury, but he is still Chelsea’s captain, and the club should maintain some of its homegrown players rather than selling them all.
At his best, James is one of the world’s top right-backs, but we never get to see him at his best since he is constantly injured. Hopefully, he will be able to resume his career next season.
Malo Gusto, who joined Chelsea in January, has benefitted from James’ injuries.
Despite an unimpressive start, the Frenchman has showed lots of potential.
Malang Sarr-Sell
This man is apparently under contract with Chelsea until 2025. It’s time to break ties.
Benoit Badiashile’s performance has been inconsistent since signing from Monaco. We admire his potential and don’t see the sense in selling him.
Axel Disasi: Keep
To be honest, Disasi is no exception. It’s difficult to say which ex-Monaco player has better promise because our perspective shifts almost every time we watch them.
Levi Colwill – Keep
It is a no-brainer to keep Levi Colwill with the club. He would represent an incredible amount of pure profit, and Bayern Munich is apparently interested, but Chelsea would be shooting themselves in the foot if they sold the man they worked so hard to successfully sign to a new deal last summer.
Trevoh Chalobah – Sell
Unfortunately, the club’s large number of centre-backs, including Tosin Adarabioyo, combined with the reality that Colwill is far superior, make selling Trevoh ‘pure profit’ Chalobah a no-brainer. He is a quality player who will perform well wherever he goes.
Alfie Gilchrist – Loan
Young Alfie Gilchrist played a little last season, but given his age, he should be playing more. A Championship loan should benefit all concerned. Leeds United are apparently considering the prospect.
Wesley Fofana – Keep
This will be a critical season for Wesley Fofana, who needs to recover from yet another devastating injury. We believe he belongs in Chelsea’s best XI and has enormous potential.
Ben Chilwell – Keep Meh. Nobody would begrudge Chelsea for selling Ben Chilwell. With Ian Maatsen traded and the club spending £100 million on left-backs, it appears like Chelsea will not make much of an improvement in Chilwell’s position.
Marc Cucurella: Keep
Marc Cucurella, who accounts for the majority of the £100 million, had a strong 23/24 season under Mauricio Pochettino – and was one of the most unhappy over his dismissal despite demonstrating an inability to play football the previous year.
