According to reports from Italy, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all eyeing former Everton winger Ademola Lookman.
During his initial stint in the Premier League with Everton, Lookman struggled, scoring only four goals in 48 matches across all competitions. Afterward, he was loaned to RB Leipzig, which eventually signed him permanently in July 2019. Further loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City followed before Lookman settled at Serie A club Atalanta.
In the past few seasons, Lookman has shone at Atalanta, netting 32 goals in 77 appearances. The Nigerian international, born in England, was particularly impressive in May when he scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final, helping Atalanta secure a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen and their first European trophy.
His standout performances have reignited interest from the Premier League. Italian website Calciomercato reports that Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are keen on acquiring Lookman and are prepared to offer nearly €60 million (£51 million). Nevertheless, Atalanta is determined to keep Lookman, especially if they decide to sell Teun Koopmeiners, who is currently recovering from an injury that kept him out of the European Championship.
After the Europa League final, Lookman expressed his joy: “One of the best nights of my life. Amazing performance from the team. We did it! I don’t have many words, but it was fantastic.”
Peter Crouch, a former Liverpool striker, was captivated by Lookman’s Europa League final performance, describing him as an “inspiration” for players who have faced challenges in their careers. Crouch noted in May: “Lookman’s journey is likely inspirational for many players who might lose their way. When he joined Everton, he probably envisioned a successful Premier League career. However, he had to venture abroad, facing difficulties along the way. His move to Atalanta, where he found a supportive manager, highlights his resilience.
