In recent developments, Zirkzee has emerged as the top candidate for Manchester United’s striker position, as the club seeks a reliable forward to challenge Rasmus Hojlund for a starting spot.

Securing Zirkzee would enhance United’s offensive capabilities and serve as a replacement for Anthony Martial, who is set to depart Old Trafford at the end of this month.

AC Milan initially led the race to sign Zirkzee, having received his approval to move forward. However, negotiations stalled due to the high commission demanded by Zirkzee’s agent, Kia Joorabchian. Joorabchian initially requested €15 million, a figure Milan was not prepared to meet.

Even after lowering the commission, Milan remained unwilling to comply, opening the door for Manchester United. According to a recent report by The Peoples Person, Joorabchian is now offering Manchester United a significant reduction in his commission to facilitate Zirkzee’s transfer to Old Trafford, now seeking only £8 million.

Journalist Nick Semeraro has provided an update, noting that an agreement on agent fees has been reached between United and Joorabchian. Semeraro shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Manchester United have found an agreement in principle with Kia Joorabchian on the payment of commissions.”

“Bologna is aware of the Red Devils’ willingness to meet the clause (as anticipated yesterday). Now it depends on the will of the player, who is currently involved in the European football championships.”

Despite United’s progress, Milan remains optimistic and hopeful that Zirkzee will choose them. Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth supports Semeraro’s report, emphasizing that the final decision lies with Zirkzee.

“Manchester United is expected to meet the €40 million release clause in Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee’s contract. If they do, it’s up to the player to decide whether he wants to talk. Strong interest remains from other clubs.”

Currently, Zirkzee is with the Dutch national team at Euro 2024, and his decision will be crucial in determining his next destination.
