According to David Norris, 49ers Enterprises may have to fire manager Daniel Farke if Leeds United do not finish in the top three of the Championship by late October.
Farke was unable to lead the Whites back into the Premier League on his first attempt last season, losing 1-0 to Southampton in the playoff final after finishing third in the standings.
However, the German will be given another chance in 2024/25, but he is unlikely to be granted much freedom in terms of performance, with supporters and club management alike expecting nothing less than promotion to the first division.
Farke faces pressure to produce.
According to former Leeds midfielder Norris, who played 36 games for the club between 2012 and 2015, scoring four goals, Farke might lose his job if his team does not finish at least third in the standings by late October.
“Not very,” Norris told MOT Leeds News when asked how long he believes Farke may survive if Leeds had a bad start to 2024/25.
Norris went on to say, “The pressure is going to be on after not going up last season; they will be aiming for automatic promotion.”
“I believe if Leeds are not in the top three by the end of October, they will surely make a change – or if they have a horrible start, it may be sooner.
“They were correct to continue with him and give him another chance, but the pressure is obviously on now.”
Leeds will learn their first opponents for the season when the Championship matches are released on Wednesday. Before that, they have friendlies against Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town and Spanish powerhouse Valencia.
