West Ham midfielder eyed as Casemiro replacement at Man Utd! đź’Ą Manchester United fans, brace yourselves as the club considers a key Hammers star to fill the midfield gap. Stay tuned for updates on this thrilling potential transfer!

Manchester United are considering West Ham United’s midfielder, Edson Alvarez, as a potential replacement for Casemiro, according to recent reports.

After an unsatisfactory season, Casemiro is on the market this summer, with United aiming to raise nearly ÂŁ100m for squad reinvestment by selling the Brazilian.

As the squad’s sole natural defensive midfielder, Casemiro’s exit would necessitate bringing in a replacement. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that club officials have discussed Alvarez as a candidate.

The Mexican international, who turns 27 in October, joined Erik ten Hag’s Ajax in 2019, and the Dutch manager is reportedly interested in a reunion.

However, a deal for Alvarez might be challenging. He is under contract with West Ham until 2028 and has become a key player after his ÂŁ35m transfer last summer.

Alvarez was close to joining Chelsea in 2022, revealing that he was “an hour away” from flying to London before Ajax blocked the move.

He eventually moved to the Premier League a year later and quickly adapted to the competition, making 42 appearances in all competitions last season and catching the attention of Manchester United’s officials.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are expected to limit Ten Hag’s control over the club’s transfers. While the manager would still have a say, his power to veto transfers could be restricted.

Ten Hag has already brought several former Ajax players to Old Trafford, including Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez, and Antony, and has shown interest in Frenkie de Jong and Brian Brobbey in the past.

Another ex-Ajax player, center-back Matthijs de Ligt, was considered earlier this summer, but United are hesitant to pursue him further due to the high cost of signing him from Bayern Munich.
