Paulo Dybala has expressed interest in eventually playing in England or Spain.

The AS Roma forward is once again a hot topic in transfer rumors. As a World Cup winner with Argentina and one of Serie A’s top talents, the 30-year-old is highly sought after.

Dybala joined Roma from Juventus in 2022, with Roma making significant concessions to secure him, including a notable release clause. This clause allows clubs outside Italy to sign him for just €12 million.

This low release clause has fueled speculation about his departure in past transfer windows, and the upcoming window is no exception. Chelsea had shown interest in Dybala, largely due to the admiration of his compatriot Mauricio Pochettino. However, with Pochettino no longer at Stamford Bridge, these rumors have diminished. A few years ago, Manchester United was also keen on acquiring Dybala, but no deal was reached.

In an interview with The Athletic, Dybala expressed his curiosity about playing in LaLiga or the Premier League and discussed his failed transfer to Old Trafford.

“It would be hard to leave,” Dybala said, “but of course, you always have the curiosity and wonder how you would do in leagues as good as LaLiga and the Premier League, where there are great teams and great players.”

In 2019, Manchester United tried to bring him to England. “That summer, there was interest from Man Utd and Tottenham, but it was more from Manchester because Juve wanted to make that move.”

“It was the season Juve appointed [Maurizio] Sarri, so I spoke to him to find out if he really didn’t want me on the team. After our chat, my intention was to stay. I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to stay because I was happy. That was my best year.”
