Reece James has received compliments from Manchester City captain Kyle Walker, who calls the Chelsea player the “greatest right-back in the world”.

James, who battles recurrent injury problems, has become among the Premier League’s top defenders since his first-team Chelsea debut in September 2019.

Before his most recent injury setback, James had also started to frequently represent England; he had sixteen Three Lions matches and participated in Euro 2020.

Though he only played five Premier League games this season, the 24-year-old was an unexpected absence from Gareth Southgate’s 33-man preliminary England team ahead of the Euro.

James won not be playing for Germany this summer, but Walker sees the Chelsea skipper as the best “complete” right-back in global football.

On the You’ll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, asked to name the top right-back in the world, he said: “Reece James.”
