After a prolonged absence, fans were thrilled to witness Tyrell Malacia’s return to Wembley, celebrating Manchester United’s FA Cup final victory.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined from Feyenoord for approximately £15 million in 2022, had been out of action since undergoing knee surgery last summer. His last game for United was on May 28, 2023.
Although Erik ten Hag suggested in June that Malacia was unlikely to play in the 2023–24 season, reports in February indicated he was nearing a return to the first team. Ten Hag had said at the time, “I think it’s going to be difficult for this season to be available.”
Fans also noticed Malacia’s absence on social media, with his last Instagram post on July 11, 2023, and his last tweet shortly after.
Nevertheless, on Saturday afternoon, Malacia was back at Wembley, celebrating with his teammates after United’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
Supporters were ecstatic about his return after such a long break.
