Total Disaster at Chelsea as Thier top target De Zerbi has rejected the offer to become Chelsea manager this morning

Ansu Fati was signed up last year by departing Brighton coach Mauricio Pochettino in opposition to Roberto Dezerbi.

After one season where he made a lot of big-money acquisitions including the £100million deal for Moises Caicedo as well as forking out £53million to get Romeo Lavia from Southampton, the former Chelsea manager left Stamford Bridge.

Among the possible offers Chelsea missed was one involving Barcelona winger Ansu Fati. Pochettino obviously disagreed with the guy who would very well succeed him as De Zerbi ended up bringing him to Brighton and judged him as a top-quality Premier League player.

The Athletic claims that although the Blues were given the option to sign the Spaniard, Pochettino turned down the offer to purchase the 21-year-old, who instead momentarily left the Camp Nou to spend the 2023/24 campaign with Brighton.

Given Fati’s great name and his arrival in Brighton, the football community was most definitely surprised when the Italian manager hailed the Spain national after acquiring his services for a season.

“I’m quite happy; it’s a major player,” De Zerbi remarked of Fati. “We needed one major actor and lost Enciso. We are happy as we have a lot of young players, perhaps top players and it will be one duty more.

“If you deal with this talent, you have tremendous responsibility since it is our football legacy and we cannot make mistakes with these players as football requires this skill and you have to handle it in many ways.”

The 44-year-old added: “I have always thought like this. Particularly for the great, tremendous skill, I feel obliged to assist this ability in developing into outstanding players. Football demands outstanding players, although often the coaches just consider their career or the outcome. I feel it; it is a great duty. With his traits, I believe our approach is somewhat similar.

It didn’t work out in England, either, as Fait struggled with injuries and form and managed only four goals in thirty outings in all competitions. Next season he is anticipated to go back to a Barcelona side run under Hansi Flick.

Meanwhile, De Zerbi may inherit Pochettino’s Chelsea team with the Italian among the favorites chosen to be Blues’ new manager. Additionally under consideration are Brentford’s Thomas Frank and current Leicester boss Enzo Maresca.
