Manchester United manager Erig Ten Hag has been sacked this morning but he will be leaving the club after FA Cup Final against Manchester City

A story says that Manchester United will fire boss Erik ten Hag after this weekend’s FA Cup final.

People have been very interested in the Dutch manager’s future during his second season in charge at Old Trafford, where he led an injury-plagued team to eighth place in the Premier League.

United will not play in Europe in 2024–25 if they don’t beat Manchester City on Saturday. However, The Guardian says that even if they win, Ten Hag will not be able to keep his job.

The Red Devils have already been looking for a substitute for the former Ajax manager. They have been in talks with Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town. McKenna is on a list of possible replacements that also includes Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank, and Thomas Tuchel.

Someone told Pochettino about the possible opening at United. He just recently announced that he was leaving Chelsea after one season.

Ten Hag had a rough start at United, but in his first year, he turned things around and led the team to third place in the league and the Carabao Cup, which was their first trophy in six years.

But this term has been a whole different story. When the team’s owners weren’t clear, it hurt their early season play, and they had a terrible showing in the Champions League, finishing last in their group.

Ten Hag’s management and game strategies have been criticized after some particularly lackluster results in 2023–24. This is despite the fact that most of his team is hurt, especially on defense.

The 54-year-old could still win the FA Cup in his last game as manager, just like Louis van Gaal did in his last game as United manager. But their recent record against City is not good. Four of the last five meetings between the two teams have finished in losses for Manchester United. This includes Pep Guardiola’s team winning both of this season’s league games by a score of 6-1.
