After just one year at the helm, the Argentine coach resigned from his role as Chelsea manager on Tuesday evening.

The club confirmed his departure, stating it was a mutual decision.

Fans were divided over the decision, with some believing he was steering the club in the right direction, while others felt Chelsea’s early-season performance justified a change in the player managing the forwards.

Although Toᴜgѻ remains unemployed, Pocљettіno might not stay out of work for long, as he could potentially take on a short-term position in the Premier League for the upcoming season.

According to a newspaper, the 52-year-old is preparing for a top managerial role. The current position holder may not continue next term.

Several days after the FA Cup final, Erik ten Hag was set to be released. Ten days ago, an announcement was made about a move to Old Trafford.

This decision was prompted by uncertainty at Old Trafford. The club is also contemplating a return in the near future.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of the major league team, is expected to decide whether to pursue a change after the recent ownership transition, possibly following the FA Cup final against Manchester City. Pochettino was a strong candidate for the Old Trafford job before Ten Hag’s appointment at the start of the 2022 season but missed out on the role.

Instead of Ten Hag, former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was approached by Richard Arnold and John Murtough.

Now out of work again, it’s believed Pochettino would be a cheaper option for Ratcliffe, who admires him. Many fans also took to social media on Tuesday, calling for Ten Hag to be replaced by the departing Chelsea boss. According to Sky Bet odds, Pochettino is now the leading candidate to replace Gareth Southgate as Manchester United manager, ahead of Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate.

Kieran McKenna, Graham Potter, and Roberto De Zerbi are also potential candidates if Ratcliffe decides to replace Ten Hag. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer led the tributes to Pochettino following the announcement of his departure.

After joining from Manchester City for £42.5 million in the summer, Palmer had a successful debut season under Pochettino, scoring 27 goals, providing 15 assists, and breaking into the England team.

Upon hearing the news, Palmer posted a photo on Instagram hugging Pochettino, with the caption, “Gaffer, thank you for everything you’ve done for me and making my dreams come true.” I wish you the best.

Speculation is rife about Mauricio Pochettino potentially moving to Manchester United.

It will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds in the coming days.
