Former Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has announced he is returning to football in shock announcement this evening
Sir Alex Ferguson, a Manchester United great, has signed a lifetime contract with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ferguson faced Frankfurt as Aberdeen manager in 1979, losing 2-1 on aggregate in a UEFA Cup tie.
Frankfurt were drawn against Aberdeen in the Europa Conference League group stage this season, and a delegation from the German club paid a visit to Ferguson before the 2-0 defeat at Pittodrie in December.
The iconic former manager has been named Frankfurt’s newest club member for life.

Ferguson spoke with Frankfurt’s website about his battle with them while he was the manager of Aberdeen.
“Frankfurt were the better team, but we saved the game [first leg] with an equaliser,” he remarked. “We had the opportunity to travel to Frankfurt, but we lost 1-0. Bernd Holzenbein scored the goal in the second game that eliminated us from the competition.
“I learned a crucial lesson while we were playing abroad. Some players left after the game. After that, I made certain that nothing like it ever happened again.”
Ferguson, a proud Scot and former Scotland national team manager, is looking forward to his country’s first Euro 2024 game against host nation Germany this summer.
When asked if Germany has a chance of defeating Scotland, Ferguson scoffed, “No chance!”
“I will watch the game live. I need to see it. Scotland isn’t too horrible, you know. They have good midfielders and two good fullbacks. In recent years, only the striker position has proven tough.
“The Scottish fans will be wonderful, too. In this manner, I shall never forget the 1990 World Cup in Italy. During the group stage, I was watching a Scotland game when I noticed a large bus approaching from Glasgow. They had removed the roof and were grilling on the double-decker bus. There was no way to go to the stadium without passing by the bus. Of course, they noticed me and shouted, ‘Alex! Come on up; we’ve planned a cookout for you!
“The Scottish supporters are great. The kilt is one of the best aspects of Scottish culture. Every town in Scotland has its own, and so does every football club. Everybody wears it. I won’t be wearing it for the European Championships, but I’m excited about the competition.”
