Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Erik Ten Hag time at Old Trafford is finally OVER as Thomas Tuchel has agreed a three years deal to join Manchester United as their new head coach-“🗣I have big plans here which I must fulfil. I want to prove that I am the best coach in the world”.
Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his departure from Bayern Munich this summer, despite rumors that he might reconsider and stay.
Tuchel announced his exit in February due to mounting pressure during his tenure, following stints at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Since then, Bayern Munich has been searching for a new manager, with names like Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann being mentioned. However, the club’s difficulty in securing a replacement led to speculation that Tuchel might remain.
Ahead of their match against Hoffenheim on Saturday, Tuchel reaffirmed his decision, stating, “This is my final press conference from Säbener Strasse. Our agreement from February still stands. We spoke about it again recently, but we did not reach an agreement.”
This announcement follows reports that Tuchel is interested in a potential role at Manchester United, should they part ways with current manager Erik ten Hag. With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos now overseeing operations at Old Trafford, Tuchel is considered a strong candidate.
Tuchel is reportedly eager to return to the Premier League. Having left Chelsea in September 2022, he has expressed his fondness for English football. Before Bayern’s Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid last month, Tuchel commented, “This is a tricky road where you lead me. I’d rather not answer. But it is no secret that I loved it in England and I loved it in the Premier League. It was a very, very special time in England, and I remember it very well.”
Following their loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final earlier this month, Bayern Munich will finish the season without a major trophy for the first time since 2011/12. They lost the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen and currently hold third place, two points ahead of Stuttgart with one game left. Bayern was also eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in the second round by third-tier Saarbrücken and lost the DFL-Supercup final to RB Leipzig. Despite these setbacks, Harry Kane, who joined from Tottenham last summer, has had a remarkable season, scoring 44 goals in 45 matches.
