“Sack Erig Ten Hag Sack Erig Ten Hag”Erik ten Hag appears to be booed by Man United fans in mixed reception during Old Trafford speech.
Parts of Old Trafford applauded Erik ten Hag during his end-of-season address at full-time after their 3-2 victory over Newcastle.
With their last home game of the season, United secured all three points and are hoping to qualify for European competition.
After Kieran Trippier placed him onside, Kobbie Mainoo opened the scoring with a well struck goal inside the area.
Anthony Gordon converted from close range as Newcastle rallied to equalise.
The hosts then went back ahead thanks to an amazing first-time finish by Amad Diallo, who scored his first Premier League goal.
Not two minutes after coming off the bench, substitute Rasmus Hojlund scored United’s third goal. Lewis Hall supplied a late scare, but Erik ten Hag’s team survived to win 3-2.
Ten Hag assembled his team in the middle of the Old Trafford pitch after the full time whistle and took a microphone before addressing the United supporters.
The audience applauded and jeered the Dutchmen after their yoyo season, which undoubtedly hasn’t been a step forward for the team, and he underlined the value of the supporters’ backing.
“I want to thank you everyone for the great support over the season,” he stated.
He went on, “As you know it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing stayed consistent and that was your backing of the squad.”
During his address, Ten Hag also underlined the significance of the FA Cup final versus Man City at Wembley.
“The season’s not quite finished,” he said. When we play at Wembley, I guarantee you those guys will stop at nothing to win the FA Cup for Old Trafford.”
