Alan Pardew has proposed an intriguing idea for Manchester United’s coaching position, suggesting they veer away from the popular choice of Erik ten Hag and instead consider a former player from the club.
The uncertainty surrounding ten Hag’s future stems from a season of mixed results at Old Trafford, with initial promise overshadowed by the team’s current sixth-place standing in the league. There’s speculation that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS might seek a change in leadership this summer, with Thomas Tuchel’s availability adding fuel to the fire.
However, Pardew believes United should explore a different avenue, advocating for Championship manager Mark Robins to be given a chance. Despite Robins lacking top-tier managerial experience, his recent accomplishments with Coventry City, including a strong FA Cup semi-final showing, and his iconic goal for United in 1990, make him an intriguing prospect.
However, given his limited experience at the highest level, it remains to be seen if Manchester United would take the risk on Robins.
