Chelsea Manager Mouricio Pochettino has been sacked in shocking scene this morning by the Management after fans demands his dismissal
According to Marc Cucurella, Mauricio Pochettino has the backing of his Chelsea team despite doubts over his future coming into the summer.
As his debut season as the Blues’ manager draws to a close, Pochettino is under pressure. Chelsea has won just 13 of its 33 games, placing them tenth in the Premier League and 19 points off of the top four.
Despite spending over £1 billion on players since Todd Boehly’s group took over the organization little over two years ago, the squad is playing very poorly. After Manchester City’s 1-0 loss in the FA Cup semi-final and Arsenal’s 5-0 thumping, the management was reportedly “seriously contemplating” firing Pochettino in the summer.
When Pochettino’s team fell behind 2-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday, it looked like things were going to get worse. However, they rallied to tie 2-2 and would have prevailed if VAR hadn’t controversially disallowed Axel Disasi’s late goal. According to Cucurella, Pochettino has Chelsea moving in the correct direction, and he merits more time.
When asked if the players wanted Pochettino to stay after the second half comeback against Villa, he responded, “Yes, without a doubt,” to the Evening Standard. He gave a really well-received speech at halftime, and everyone witnessed the team’s response. We lose a lot of games, which is part of the game, but I believe the bigger issue is that we have the talent but sometimes we don’t demonstrate it.
“I don’t think the manager can do much when we lose 5-0. I believe that it is more about our attitudes as athletes. He has been a big assistance to us, he communicates well, and the team is behind him. We’re doing great. We must win, which means that everyone of us must advance every week, maintain our current level of performance, and have the same mindset every minute. Together, we can do great things.
For Pochettino, who acknowledged that his team had “given up” against Arsenal in the second half, the performance against Villa was encouraging. Excellent goals from Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher preceded Disasi’s thrilling header being disallowed for a shove in the box by Benoit Badashile.

When Pochettino joined Chelsea at the beginning of the season, he signed a two-year deal with the option of an additional 12 months. However, the dismissal of his predecessor Graham Potter, who left Stamford Bridge less than seven months into a five-year contract, illustrates the team’s short-sightedness.
Pochettino has asked sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, for clarification. Though he has already started preparing for the preseason and summer transfer window, the possibility of being fired still looms large. Before finishing the season with games against West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, and Bournemouth, Chelsea will play Tottenham again on Thursday.
