Fans of Chelsea have just had their entrails torn out by VAR.A late substitute, Axel Disasi appeared to have sealed the victory with a goal he converted from a cross that followed a corner kick.
Although the referee initially considered it insufficient to completely rule out Benoit Badiashile’s attempt to squander off Diego Carlos, the play was nonetheless somewhat baffling.
He may not have had an unobstructed view of the pitch, perhaps. His assessment of the replay confirmed that it was a violation.
Badiashile was subsequently able to return the ball inside, and Disasi rose to his highest point to head it in. It was, however, removed from us following initial riotous celebrations.
We can all concur that VAR has once more taken the pleasure out of another game, regardless of our personal judgments regarding the ruling.
