We are excited to announce that we are revolutionizing offside calls! In preparation for the 2024–2025 season, the Premier League has revealed a semi-automated offside technology that will change the game. Say Farewell to the Drama of the VAR! All of Manchester United’s games will now be played in an honest and fair manner as a result of this. No More Strife with the VAR!

In response to ongoing issues with inconsistent use of video assistant referees (VAR) in the league, the Premier League has decided to adopt the SAOT system. Initially introduced during the 2022 World Cup, SAOT offers a promising alternative to manually drawing offside lines, which has raised concerns about accuracy and the challenge of quick decision-making due to limited camera angles.

The decision to implement SAOT was unanimously supported by Premier League clubs, signaling widespread agreement among member clubs on the need for enhanced officiating technology. The league highlighted in a statement that SAOT will ensure faster and more consistent placement of virtual offside lines, utilizing player tracking data.

Beyond officiating, SAOT is expected to enhance the viewing experience for fans both in stadiums and on broadcasts. The technology will be tasked with identifying offside players during crucial moments such as goal-scoring opportunities or penalty incidents, with plans to display SAOT graphics on stadium screens to keep fans engaged and informed.

This move represents a significant advancement in improving the accuracy and efficiency of refereeing decisions in the Premier League, aiming to enhance fan enjoyment and reduce controversies associated with VAR.
