VERY SAD News has been announced for Manchester City Star Phil Foden after he was Substituted against Real Madrid this evening
Phil Foden hopes to be fit for Manchester City’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid after a late replacement left him limping significantly after a tackle.
Following a thrilling game at the Bernabeu on Tuesday, City will return to the Etihad Stadium next week with a 3-3 draw. After trailing 2-1, Foden’s spectacular shot into the top corner leveled the game for City before Josko Gvardiol’s looping attempt put them ahead. Fede Valverde’s magnificent volley, however, brought the teams level in Manchester.
With five minutes left, Pep Guardiola replaced Foden with Julian Alvarez after the striker went down after a tackle from behind by Eduardo Camavinga. Foden hobbled away painfully, still feeling the consequences of the challenge at full capacity.
However, after the game, Foden indicated that he is positive about the injury, which he described as a dead leg. When TNT Sports asked whether he was alright, he said, “I hope so, I have a nasty dead leg. [I’ve] had some time to recuperate, and maybe I can.”
Guardiola was also questioned about the situation, and he responded: “It’s a knock; he was upset with me because I made a substitute. “He scored another amazing goal.”
Regarding his goal, Foden said that City’s possession allowed them to wear Real Madrid out and create room to shoot, adding: “I felt a nice connection, I always practice, sometimes they don’t go in. Today, it moved to the upper corner.
“We’re unhappy because, despite being 3-2 up, we couldn’t keep the ball out of the goal. They scored with a great shot. There are several advantages that we can enhance for the second leg.”
