England and Chelsea Star will miss Euro 2024 after devastating news has been confirmed this morning
A report from The Athletic says that England’s backup custodian Sam Johnstone will miss Euro 2024 because he has surgery on Wednesday morning.
England’s first injury before the tournament comes as a huge shock to head coach Gareth Southgate: the Crystal Palace custodian is hurt.
Johnstone would have gone to the event to back up Jordan Pickford.
He almost certainly will be in Southgate’s final team for Germany this summer because of how well he has played for Selhurst Park this season.
A lot of people in England are hurt.
Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker, and Johnstone all left the England camp on Sunday. They did not play in Tuesday’s friendly against Belgium.
The goalkeeper was supposed to start the game against Belgium, but on Sunday while working out with England, he hurt his elbow by mistake.
He will miss the rest of the season because of this. This happened to the 31-year-old while he was blocking a shot.
