Chelsea are expected to face a profit and sustainability charge from the Premier League, from breaches committed under the ownership of Roman Abramovich
The Premier League is likely to charge Chelsea a profit and sustainability fee for violations that happened when Roman Abramovich owned the club.
Football Insider says that Chelsea is waiting for charges for what they did when Roman Abramovich was their owner. The story says that the punishments will happen “sooner rather than later.”
UEFA fined Chelsea £8.6 million last summer for breaking rules from the time of Roman Abramovich. They could have been punished even more harshly if Chelsea hadn’t reported the violations.
As the new owners work with the Premier League, Chelsea hopes that the penalties will be less harsh.
Even though they now have new masters, Chelsea says they haven’t broken any spending rules since the change.
