Reports say that Manchester United will turn down Getafe’s request to keep Mason Greenwood on loan for a second season because the club wants to sell the young star. The La Liga club has talked about keeping Greenwood this summer, but United is going to get him back before they sell him for good.
Getafe signed the 22-year-old forward on loan for a season on the last day of the transfer window last summer. It was felt that his career would be better off away from Old Trafford.
He went to Spain with his partner, Harriet, and became a father last July. He is said to be enjoying life away from the spotlight there.
Greenwood has played 24 times for Getafe in La Liga, scoring six goals, setting up five others, and making 23 chances.
Heavyweight clubs like Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are allegedly interested in signing the former United No. 11 because of how well he has played.
It is also said that Getafe wants to keep Greenwood on loan until the end of the season and have talked to United about the potential.
The Red Devils, on the other hand, don’t want to give Greenwood another loan, according to The Sun. If the club does decide to sell him, they will focus on a permanent deal.
