‘We didn’t agree he told me to play as a left back but I didn’t….’… Joao Cancelo shares what went wrong between him and Pep Guardiola at Man City

Joao Cancelo has finally talked about what went wrong between him and Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The world was shocked when Cancelo was sent on loan to Bayern Munich in January of last year. He had lost his spot in City’s team for a couple of games after the Qatar World Cup.

In August, it was said that Pep Guardiola and the Portuguese fullback had been having trouble working together since the 2021–2022 season.

Pep Guardiola and Joao Cancelo “didn’t agree” on some things, according to Cancelo.
The 29-year-old player, who is on loan at Barcelona at the moment, recently said that he wants to sign with the club officially in the summer.

In June, Guardiola said that City would have sold the engineer who used to work for Inter Milan to their biggest foes, Manchester United.

Right now, Joao Cancelo has told his short story about how he got along with Pep Guardiola.

We didn’t always agree on everything, but we did agree on some things. There were some things we didn’t agree on, and there were things I said that he didn’t agree with. I’m thankful, though, so I don’t feel angry. He told RTP in Portuguese, “Life goes on, and I’m very, very happy here.”

A very good answer from Joao Cancelo
Joao Cancelo didn’t go public with all the facts of the possible argument with Pep Guardiola. Instead, he chose not to.

Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the history of the game, and Cancelo has said how thankful he is to work with him.

Before he left City to play for Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the ex-Valencia defender was a mainstay for the Sky Blues and one of the best players in Europe.

Last month, Paul Merson said that the junior player from the Benfica school “changed the face of football” by making the inverted full-back position popular in the Premier League.

Cancelo and Guardiola may have broken up, but instead of yelling at him and making a scene, Cancelo decided to focus on his football, which is always better than a public fight that doesn’t need to happen.
